Historic Building Repair - Brilliant 3-Step Masonry Reinforcement

Problem

The beautiful property, while full of character, exhibited severe wall cracking—a clear sign of structural distress that demanded immediate attention. Our detailed assessment confirmed that the integrity of the masonry was compromised due to foundational movement, leading to signs of bulging na Bowing Walls.

The primary task was critical: to address the compromised foundations and restore the structural integrity of the building without compromising its immense historical value. For complex issues like these, which go beyond simple crack repair, specialised Masonry Reinforcement was the only appropriate solution. The project demanded a durable, sympathetic, and non-disruptive approach tailored for Polish Construction heritage.

Through a detailed assessment, we developed a comprehensive plan to tackle the root cause of the issues, ensuring a robust, long-term historic building repair.

Our comprehensive strategy focused on utilising specialised, high-performance reinforcement products designed to stabilise the existing structure and prevent future movement:

Tensile Strength: We chose our specialized $6 \text{mm}$ Bar Flex stainless steel reinforcement bars. These were selected for their high tensile strength, which is essential for effectively stitching and tying the existing, compromised masonry together.
Permanent Bond: For a permanent and robust repair, the Bar Flex bars would be anchored using Bond Flex. cementitious grout. This high-performance, non-shrink grout ensures a powerful bond, filling voids and securing the bar firmly within the structure without the use of invasive techniques.
Aesthetic Repair: We included targeted crack stitching to not only repair visible damage but also prevent further movement, thus completing the structural stabilisation required for this vital piece of heritage construction.

The project was executed with meticulous precision, focusing on structural effectiveness and minimal disruption to the historic fabric:

Foundational Stitching: We installed the Bar Flex stainless steel bars strategically into the foundation and wall masonry. This process effectively bridged the areas of distress, providing essential tensile resistance to the structural movement.
Grout Injection: Efektywna Bar Flex bars were secured using the high-performance Bond Flex. cementitious grout. This material was injected to ensure a deep, powerful bond that integrates the new reinforcement system with the old masonry, effectively making the wall monolithic again.
Targeted Crack Stitching: On the visible wall cracking, we performed targeted zszywanie pęknięć by installing additional Bar Flex bars across the cracks. This process locked the masonry sections together, repairing the existing damage and ensuring long-term stability.
